Derwent Sailing Squadron

The Derwent Sailing Squadron conducts a full program of sailing events throughout the year catering for sailors and boats of all levels.

As well as the traditional Summer and Winter Pennant Series' the Squadron conducts the long running Pipe Opener Series in September and the popular King of the Derwent Race in January. Over the Christmas/New Year period the Squadron assists the Ocean Racing Club of Victoria with the organisation of the Melbourne to Hobart Yacht Race.

For those looking for an easy introduction to yacht racing or just wanting to have fun, the popular Twilight Races are held every Thursday night in summer in association with the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania and Midweek Races are held each Wednesday afternoon throughout most of the year.

 The Squadron has long been an innovator in sailing on the Derwent with recent additions to the program being the Autums Two Handed Series, the Long Race Series, the Invitation Sprint Series and the Royal Hobart Regatta Series.
